*******************************UPDATE December 16, 2024 *************************************
The Pipe Hitter Foundation is pleased to announce excellent news from Attorney Jeremiah Sullivan:
“Commander Erik Ramey, M.D. has been vindicated of all misconduct. The Chief of Naval Personnel reconsidered the case and the overwhelming evidence that Dr. Ramey met the medical standard of care.”
In 2022, CDR Erik Ramey, a Navy physician, was serving as the Senior Medical Officer at Basic Training Command (BUDs) when a BUDs student passed away.
After an extensive investigation, The Bureau of Naval Medicine determined that Dr. Ramey met the standard of care and was exonerated.
However, all that changed when he was served earlier this year stating that he must appear at a Board of Inquiry because he caused the death of the student. This is after the Navy previously affirmed CDR Ramey fulfilled all his responsibilities as the Naval Special Warfare Center’s senior medical officer.
This became a politically motivated case and is the result of gross injustice by Navy prosecutors who wanted to fabricate some new heightened standard of medical care that does not exist in law or medicine.
As a result of the allegations, CDR Ramey lost his promotion to the rank of Captain. We are continuing our battle to correct an injustice.
Despite a win, CDR Ramey is still saddled with legal fees and must continue his fight to secure his rank of Captain.
CDR Ramey was elated with the news and thanked the PHF, stating, “They never quit and never gave up. I am indebted to their work and thankful for all they did and will continue to do on my behalf and that of their other grantees. I am proud to serve my country and, together with PHF, will continue to fight to secure my promotion and the rank of Captain.”

This has become now a politically motivated case and is the result of gross injustice by Navy prosecutors who now want to fabricate some new heightened standard of medical care that does not exist in law or medicine.
This unjust course of action could lower the standards at BUDs endangering National security by not producing the strongest war fighting operators.
Dr. Ramey now must fight the government to protect his military career which could end along with the loss of his medical license.
